The Art of Nourishing

The Art of Nourishing is more than a REAL FOODS cookbook…Home

It is an essential companion for anyone who suffers from allergies or maybe in search of a healthier lifestyle to face the challenges of today’s fast-paced, “fast food” world. There are many valuable tips and down-to-earth ideas for individuals and families working towards a healthier society.

It is also a story of hope for the future. Read how the mother and father of a seriously ill baby challenged authorities—including modern medicine—so that they could survive their trauma without using prescription drugs and surgery. They succeeded, and created a more wholesome life in the process.

‘The Art of Nourishing’ is written by home economist, Therese Steele. Therese is passionate about encouraging young people to eat healthy food. A regular comment from children who eat Therese’s food is “this is so tasty”.

The recipes are designed to give the cook confidence with simple, repetitive methods and requires minimal pantry ingredients.

Welcome to my Art of Nourishing blog. This year “The Art of Nourishing” has taken me to  wonderful places around Brisbane to present my book through cooking demonstrations. I have met many lovely people who have inspired me by their enthusiasm to make healthy changes for themselves and their families.

Some of the topics covered – healthy shopping, cleaning out the pantry, meal planning, fussy eaters, gluten and sugar free cooking, creating better work/life balance, healthy school lunches, parenting topics and organising time to prepare healthier meals.

Any positive dietary change is important and many people have found the month-by month positive lifestyle plan in my book helpful.

Another question that has been frequently asked is about a healthy gluten-free flour mix. The following is what I recommend in my book.

2 cups brown rice flour, 1/2 cup buckwheat flour, 1/2 cup millet flour(Quinoa, amaranth or maize can be used) and 1 cup tapioca flour (starch)

To Make this into self-raising flour add

1 1/2 teaspoons bicarbonate of soda, 2 teaspoons cream of tartar, 3 teaspoons guar gum
