Welcome to my Art of Nourishing blog. This year “The Art of Nourishing” has taken me to wonderful places around Brisbane to present my book through cooking demonstrations. I have met many lovely people who have inspired me by their enthusiasm to make healthy changes for themselves and their families.
Some of the topics covered – healthy shopping, cleaning out the pantry, meal planning, fussy eaters, gluten and sugar free cooking, creating better work/life balance, healthy school lunches, parenting topics and organising time to prepare healthier meals.
Any positive dietary change is important and many people have found the month-by month positive lifestyle plan in my book helpful.
Another question that has been frequently asked is about a healthy gluten-free flour mix. The following is what I recommend in my book.
PLAIN FLOUR MIX
2 cups brown rice flour, 1/2 cup buckwheat flour, 1/2 cup millet flour(Quinoa, amaranth or maize can be used) and 1 cup tapioca flour (starch)
To Make this into self-raising flour add
1 1/2 teaspoons bicarbonate of soda, 2 teaspoons cream of tartar, 3 teaspoons guar gum
